Multisensory Structured Learning

At Rowellyn Park we use the Orton Gillingham approach to language acquisition (sound knowledge). This is a highly structured approach that assists all students to reach their full reading potential and is best practice for students with dyslexia.
The majority of teachers in the Junior School have completed intensive training and are accredited MSL educators. All students from Foundation to Grade 3 participate in Phonics sessions using the MSL approach.
As part of the approach, students focus on irregular words, (words that can only be learnt by sight, they don't follow a phonemic rule) and 'heart words'.
