Hello Parents carers and students!

I hope you enjoyed last week’s Happy Houses activity!
I am so excited that you will all soon be back in my art room listening to the radio creating some magnificent artworks!

This is the last week of online learning! I am so proud of how well you have all coped with remote learning and have really enjoyed all of the work submitted.

This week we are going to be looking at a kind of art that has been described many times as Mindful Art. Very relaxing!

Have you heard of the word Zen tangle?

“ZEN” means calm and “TANGLE” means a collection of overlapping patterns. ZENTANGLE is the bringing together of the calm and the pattern.

Here are some amazing examples of Zen tangles.

Zen tangles use a lot of line… Line is one of the building blocks of art.

This week I want you to create your own amazing Zen tangle using line in as many different ways as possible! I thought it might be fun to use a leaf print!

Here is an example of someone drawing a leaf using Zen Tangle.

It looks very relaxing doesn’t it!
Some of the lines and patterns can very very small and detailed.
Can you do small patterns?
How close can you get your lines to each other?
I have attached a leaf template you can print and use if you like. If not you could draw your own, trace your hand or just do a circle.
Your Zen tangle can be as big or small as you like!

Let’s get into it!
For this task you will need

  • A black fine liner or pen
  • Paper

I look forward to seeing how you go!
Have fun doing your last online art lesson!
See you next week!

Ms Woodbridge
