| Maths Learning Intention We are learning to recognise, describe and order Australian coins according to their value. Success Criteria I can recognise, describe and order Australian coins correctly by value. Watch: Video ‘Coins of Australia’. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2eDawFb9ro Introductory activity: Do you have any Australian coins in your house? With a parent’s permission, see how many coins you can find, mix and match them, put them in order of value, count how many coins. Take a few coins and work out how much money you have. Next you can write what you know! Activity: What do you know about Australian coins now? Write the heading and date at the top of your scrap book. Draw and write the coins in order down your page. Tell someone what you know about each coin. Draw and write all that you know about each coin. You could write about the shape, colour, picture, number on the ‘heads’, and anything else you can think of! Extension: If you have them, take two handfuls of mixed coins and add up their value. Write them down. |
